Buddy looks around the room, anywhere but at you or Dave.  Seriously, are they okay?

Before you have the chance to ask, Buddy finally makes eye contact.  “As you are well aware, this ceremony will be momentous.  It shall be the first time a Prospitian and a Dersite are to be wed.”

They wait for you both to nod before they continue.  “And as such, it is critical to the treaty as well as both kingdoms that we all adhere to any traditions and customs.”

“What do we have to do?” Dave asks, getting right to the point.  “Something embarrassing, I bet.”

Buddy shakes their head, almost vehemently.  “N-No!  It is not embarrassing, not in the slightest.  However, it will be, well, rather frustrating.”

Oh god, you really don’t like the way your stomach is flip-flopping, your heart racing.  Why do you have the feeling this is going to be terrible?

“On Prospit as well as on Derse, betrothed couples are meant to show restraint.  That way it will prove to their peers, as well as each other, that they care about their love more than anything else.”

Oh shit, why do you feel even worse now?  You really do have a feeling this won’t-

Buddy shuts their eyes, looking like they want to shrink as much as physically possible.  “So, until your ceremony, you need to, well, remain completely abstinent.”
